Amethyst is a type of quartz prized for it's purple color. It's name comes from Ancient Greek and means "not-intoxicated".
The ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and used it in drinking vessels believing it would prevent them from becoming intoxicated when drinking. Amethyst is also thought to represent spiritual wisdom.
Cape Amethyst is purple quartz layered or striped in milky quartz, giving it a lighter shade of purple that pops in marble jewelry.
